A Brief Introduction of the Gold Coast Dharma Realm
The Gold Coast Dharma Realm (GCDR), the Australian branch of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association (DRBA) in the USA, was founded by Venerable Master Hsuan Hua. GCDR is situated on the Gold Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia. The Gold Coast offers beautiful, sunny weather most of the year, clean, fresh air, abundant wildlife, and harmonious coexistence with humans. Dharma Master Jin Fu is now the manager of GCDR.
The teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha are followed by GCDR. The Five Schools of the Mahayana are taught by GCDR, which include: precepts and moral rules, called the Vinaya School; meditation, called the Chan School; studying dharma teachings, called the Scholastic School; mantras, called the Esoteric, or "Secret School", and chanting the Buddha’s name, called the Pure Land School. We also strive to engage in the education, sutra translation, Dharma propagation, and religious unity that Venerable Master Hua was dedicated to.
GCDR is also home to Shurangama Monastery, which is situated in serene surroundings and offers a place for Buddhist education and spiritual practise. Every Saturday, there are scheduled mantra recitation sessions and children's classes. Guided meditation on Saturday, and unguided meditation on Sunday. We also offer a significant library of literature and commentary on the Sutra that have been translated into English, including commentary by Venerable Master Hua. A bookstore with Buddhist texts in English and Chinese, educational children's books, and gifts to be explored.
